Crawdads and Dragons

Wherein I blather on RPG design, play, and stuff I design, as well as rules-lite games and classic D&D and Traveller (and others), proving that while I don't have a life, I do have a keyboard.

What the heck is this all about ?

  • Intro page

Crustacian games presents (aka free downloads)

Welcome to my Obsessive Game Designer's Workshop!
A home and repository of the output from my frenzied autodesigning obsessions for Traveller, D&D and whatnot.

Current Downloads & Development Projects Enjoy!

Adventurer: (all in PDF format).
This is my take on an imaginary lost traveller fantasy supplement examining what Gygax and Arneson might have produced if
Traveller, and not D&D was the first RPG ?

All are presented under the OGL and SRD from Mongoose and Wizards of the Coast. Click here for terms and text.

Adventurer Book 1: Characters and Conflict. Swords and sorcery characters for Traveller, plus equipment, art, some notes, and stupid captions added by me. Note: fully standalone for classic S&S campaigns (without character spellcasters or non-humans). (PDF Format)

Adventurer Book 2: Sorcery and Skyships ! NEW!
Part 1: Spells and Spellcasting system for magical and divine casters in classic Old Style FRP play campaigns for Traveller.
Part 2: Campaign blather and fluff about flying galleons, and actual construction rules for Skycraft. (PDF Format)

Adventurer: Book 3: Races Realms and Riches EVEN NEWER!
Generate fantastic creatures and races (with examples) and groan at obvious analogues of your favorite lion people, dog people, centaurs, scaly metamorphing winged reptiles and starfishy-mop things ! create maps, realms and cities, dungeons and treasure hoards ! Be a total geek and generate hexidecimal profiles for cities and dungeons ! (PDF Format)

Insanely simple, compact Roleplaying games for use with the little guys in constructable brick sets:

BrickMasters of the Unknown: one page uberlite brick RPG inspired by OD&D and Searchers of the unknown.

Gruehawk: Supplement 1 for BMoTU ! New !

Coming Soon

Adventurer Supplement 1: Rules and random stuff. Still very vague, basically whatever else I like. Maybe Skyswords of Pangea ?

Hellholes and Dead Ends of the Traveller Universe : Examples of why bizarre random world generation is Fun and Interesting and not just an abomination in the eyes of planetary science.... (Link to first one here on blog)

BrickMoor: Suppliment 2 of Brickmasters of the unknown. Adding pulp action, dinosaurs and ninjas !

Simplissimus (aka 3S system) really simple introductory RPG rules developed for my kids.

Coming eventually
Skyswords of Pangea ! (a setting for S&S, possibly adventurer, possibly traveller) (Some stuff here , here, here and here on this blog)
Red Star and Rocket A retro traveller setting.(some stuff here on this blog)

On Hold :
Bricks and Basilisks: a
more elaborate brick-based minifig RPG than BMoTU (above, which is quick, fast and simple).
Pretty much replaced (for me) by Lego Universe MMO. (tm, etc)

Current Obsession:

Current Obsession:
Classic Traveller plus Classic D&D= the Little Black Book That Never Was except here ! Beta Version of rules Now Available in PDF ! (click above pic to download book 1)
